Subject: Accessible Web Browsers Other Than Safari
Hi,
For the first time after upgrading to Mojave, I ran into a web site that uses
the Java applets, and learned that with Safari 12 and higher, Java is no longer

Chrome for Mac would be worth trying. I don't know about its Java support
though.

Hello,
My understanding of the Mac Mini is that they do have significant issues if you
do not have a monitor attached. Several on this list have recommendations for
pseudo monitors if you don’t want to find an inexpensive display to connect to
your Mac Mini.

Can that be reported as an accessibility issue?

No, I haven’t. I’m clueless; I am one of those who is terrified of screwing up
something if I do not know absolutely everything about what I am doing. I’ll
look into it, though; this is becoming exceedingly disruptive.

Take your pick of any common web site, and it happens: Amazon, Netflix,
government web sites, news sites, commercial sites. I changed preferences as
suggested, and now it keeps saying “loaded” as I read the page.

Hi,
Try going into VO Utility, Web, then Page Loading tab. Uncheck both items in
there and change the "While Loading" menu to "Do Nothing".
Also, could you send an example link of one of the sites that gives you grief?
I'd like to see how it behaves for me.

Hi Tim,
I and several other Avid Pro Tools beta testers are getting the dreaded "SWOD"
spinning wheel of death "busy" issue.
We've got it down to the Video card in the mac mini and any other "slower"
video card macs use.
I'm believing for a mac pro or Imac pro to circumnavigate this very annoying
Hi,
Hmmm. I don't experience that sort of thing. I do have 16 GB of RAM with a
3.1 GHz processor though, so I would reaffirm that if you're only running with
4 GB of RAM with a MacBook Air, you're going to experience this more often.

Yes, I used to have luck with these suggestions most of the time, but it
happens persistently now, no matter what the site, and with chrome as well. It
says busy, and/or freezes until I move to another application, and not until

My partner switched to Chrome because of the constantly spinning icon which
means busy for the sighted. So, though not as bad for sighted folk, it can and
does happen, depending on the age and power of the system.

Tim,
Probably also is why VoiceOver seems to go very low when VO commands

Hi,
It's usually a VO thing. The sighted user doesn't get the entire page buffered
into the speech synthesizer so the loading process is somewhat different.

Hi,
This is caused usually by sites that have a lot of content and complicated
coding. Sometimes, I just cmd-tab out of Safari, then do something for a few
seconds, then cmd-tab back into Safari and things are better. Other times, I
toggle VO off, wait a few seconds then turn it back on. Oth

For several situations related to the courses I’m taking at university, I

Hello Chad:
You probably tried this already but you can simulate a mouse click
with VO + Shift + spacebar. If you do not have mouse tracking on, you
will have to do a VO + Command + F5 to get the cursor before doing the
mouse click.
I hope this helps.

Hi chad,
No, FireFox does not work on Mac OS X as yet with VO. There are alternatives,
you could try Opera for example it is apparently quite accessible. However,
other alternatives such as Shiira, are based on the same web engine as Safari,
so you are likely to have the same problem with Shiir
Hi i'm looking for a alternative web browser.

I'm having trouble with xmradio site.
Whenever i click a channel it says you are inside a image with html content.
I interacted with it and nothing.
I had a sighted person look it and they had physically use the mouse.
