Hi Dan and Søren,
When you click the link to verify your subscription, you have to have
a login for a Google account. This got changed because people joined
the list just to send spam and to harvest the email addresses of list
members for use in sending spam messages.

Yes, subscribing to this list now requires creating a Google account.
However, your friend can read the posts at the Mail Archive for this
list at:
