It seems to me that if you have about 1100 followers, as I do, many of them
commercial concerns or some other form of needless spam, that Twitter in the
mailbox would be a bad idea. I'd have to figure out how to apply message rules
to serve as filters, analogous to what Syrinx gives me now. I
So wait. Don't! tell me! that this means I can literally use my Twitter
straight from my Mail app! Now that! would be unbelieveably! cool!

but to answer your question about twitter, go to the twitter site and login.
You should be asked if you want to use the twitter account for Mac OS apps.
Just say yes and the twitter option should then show up in
systemprefs/notifications.
