2 keyboard commands I use most in Safari are option-command-F and option-command-S. I learned today that these commands are tied to Safari, not to any search engine. With Safari 7.1, I have changed my search engine to Duck Duck Go and was delighted to realize my 2 fave keyboard commands are

Brian, also, if you VO right arrow over a couple times, you will hit an edit field that will let you type a google search without needing to bring up the google page first. Welcome to the list. These folks rock! They just know everything there is to know about the Mac, and then some! :) On

Well, to open the address fielf in Safari, you Command+l IF you want to actually type in to a search field, Just press VO+option+j and that command will pull you right in to the search box, if you're not already there. No forms mode or browser mode to worry about here. Sincerely, The Constant
