actually I have the same issue in skype. there is no save just copy link. so
what would I do in that situation if someone let's say gave me a direct link to
a podcast file from within skype?

The pod casts are saved in your iTunes LIbrary in a folder called podcasts.
You should be able to navigate to that directory and then find what you are
looking for.

Try this: Move to the link that goes to the podcast you want to save. Press
CTRL+Option+Shift+M to bring up the context menu. From that menu, choose
"Save As..." or "Save to Desktop" (my personal choice). From there, you can
cut & paste into iTunes & place it on your iPod, or you could leave it on
