Hi.
The only thing I can think off which hasn't been mentioned yet is the keyboard
settings in the universal settings in system preferences. I don't know if
something there can make this happen with your space bar.

Too bad; trying an external keyboard was a great troubleshooting idea. Does
the same thing happen to the space bar when you turn track pad commander off?

I'm using mac book pro 13 inch. I haven't got any external key board
though I couldn't try any external one.:)
the track pad looks working well. also I'm using track pad commender
on.

VoiceOver as the culprit... is this a MacBook, or an Imac? Have you tried
unplugging and re-plugging-in the keyboard, if it's external, and a complete

thanks mark. I've tried it but it doesn't work again. I suppose it is
not about voice over. I turned off voice over and see that the space
key still doesn't work without option key.
I don't know how did I do it. :(

through a Commander (keyboard?) or through something in System Prefs? This is

unfortunately VO keys are turned off already.
any suggestions? just space key has a problem.The other keys work properly.

Sounds like you've turned the VO keys on by pressing VO semikolon. Try to press
that again and your VO keys should be turned off.
I hope that'll make your keboard to react normal again.
