The space key working with the option key makes me wonder if it's a Keyboard Commander thing. Is it either option key, or just the left or right option key, with the space bar, to make it space? Does Command Space bring up the Spotlight search box? And, if it if a keyboard commander thing, the fix would be: • Open Vo Utilities manager • Choose Commanders in the table, and Keyboard from the tabs. • find the box that says "restore defaults," and click it.
