Is it possible you've either turned on mouse-keys or locked voiceover? If set
up in system preferences, mousekeys is toggled by pressing the option key (I
don't think it matters which one) five times. Voiceover is locked so control
and option keys are automatically on and you just use voiceover

Not sure what you may have done but you may wish to reset your PRAM. This will
usually remove any mess-ups or confusions to things like your keyboard.
