And to use a shared drive on another machine, simply show the sidebar in
Finder. Go to it, find the sharing section of the table, and the drive should
appear there. Again, you can even share a Windows computer's disk drive, just
by installing a small utility from Apple. Also, it bears repeating
Hi,
To enable CD/DVD Sharing, go into System Prefs, in the Sharing pane and check
the box for CD/DVD Sharing. If your machine does not have an optical drive,
CD/DVD Sharing will not be an option for you in the Sharing pane.

I somehow agree. I bought the late 2011 Macbook Pro with superdrive
thinking I would use it since am so used to DVD drives integrated into

The only Mac that has a built-in optical drive is the older 13" MacBook Pro.
Even the new MacPro does not come with a built-in DVD optical drive. My
understanding is two fold. This makes it a more sleek and lighter machine and
looking forward. Apple saw the demise of floppy drives back
No they don't and well no reason other than economical plus it reduces
the weight and size of the computer. You can always buy and use an
external DVD drive which plugs in via USB and they're not expensive at all.
