Yeah I use Sophos
www.sophos.com/home and fill out the form for registration,
I have no issues with it and it’s pretty easy on the machines resources.
A home account allows you to install it to 10 machines at a time
Hope this helpps.

What sort of viruses do jailbroken iOS devices get? Is there a recommended
antivirus for those devices? Can the latest iOS be jailbroken?

it is possible for Max to get viruses. However, it is not very common or
likely. This is because the Mac holds less than 8% of the computer market,
so not very many viruses have been written for the mac

Thanks to “Dave the Computer Guy,” I suspected that Macs do not get viruses but
I appreciate the confirmation.

Macs do NOT get viruses... They occasionally get malware in which you can get
the free Malwarebytes from https://www.malwarebytes.org/ Other than that, you
do NOT need an antivirus, all they do is slow down you Mac. iOS doesn’t need an
antivirus either.

Hi,
you can download it from the Mac app store. I suggest googling it and getting
it from the site though. That version has more features.

Well, I don't know much about anti-virus solutions, but I tried Clam and was
very impressed. There's a table of locations to be searched, and a table of
threats that appear during a scan. Once you set your quarantine folder, you
just scan, wait for it to finish, and go clear out that folder assu

yes. ESET is accessible as long as your running Mountain Lion. You need to

Thanks for all the replies.
The strange thing is that I know of Eset and Sophos from using Windows, but
just didn't think of them for the Mac. Anyway, I've now got the free Sophos
anti virus installed and set to run automatically on startup.
Thanks again.

I see where you're coming from regarding the waste of money bit but you can
take that in 2 ways, as I said in my original message if you've purchased a
licence for multi machines then you've wasted no extra money at all as it
doesn't cost you any extra money to buy the Mac product.
What I like
ESET has a good product for the Mac now.
It's a variation on the NOD32 product.
This has always been the antivirus package I've used on the PC.
Honesty though, I think it's a waste of money on the Mac, at least for now.

I used Protect Mac Anti virus at http://www.protectmac.com which isn't a bad

I previously used ClamXAV but switched to the free Sophos product when it was
released a few months ago. Both are strictly anti-virus, no firewall or other
security bits are included, which is how I personally like it. Both are

Hi Ian!
You should only need anti virus if you have windows on that side!
Unless someone else says other wise at the moment there is no need on the Mac
side!
So save your pennies for something else!

ClamAv sucks. I'v tried it when they had it for Windows, but it didn't
