Hi Anders,
After the initial back up super duper only takes me 4 or 5 minutes to up date
the original back up using the Smart Update option.
18 hours is way too long though.
Heres a blurb from my SuperDuper below;
Pressing "Copy Now" will use "Backup - all files" to copy Macintosh HD to WD My

Good grief no, Anders. First time backup using Super Duper? You
should be able to cancel it then check the settings.
I stopped using that app long ago, using Carbon Copy Cloner now.
Between that and Time Machine, my weekly backups are done in less than
an hour.

Hi!
Ok.
Thanks for that.
Seems I can go on with it then.

My mac is not a M1 though is there new support for big sur with SuperDuper.?

I use CCC for my backups, I don't use time machine, mainly because I
don't make a lot of changes to a lot of files at once. As far as
restoring from a CCC backup, you would boot your mac from your backup

I do. It may be redundant but better safe than sorry. And, I put
backups on separate external drives. The drives are partitioned but if
the drive itself goes belly up, that will take all the data with it.

i have never played with CCC but have thought about it.
Do you use the program in conjunction with Time Machine?
How would you restore a Mac cloned with this program?

Sounds like their development is falling behind, with high sierra, all
SSD drives are converted automatically, CCC was ready to go the day
high Sierra was released.

By the way, for anyone who uses Superduper. I took a closer look at
their web site. The current version does not support APFS. Their version

CCC 5 is fairly similar to version 4, it has more features than super
duper and does work with APFS drives. CCC also has the ability to clone
Apple's recovery partition which Super Duper does not do last I checked.

Did you purchase, or are you just using the free option? I believe scheduling
is one of those things you have to pay for.

Martin,
I looked at both and am now running CCC. Once its set up the way I
want it, its on auto pilot. It also will make the backup drive bootable.
Very good support as well from its developer.

Both are 100% accessible, and both will absolutely get the job done.
This discussion from time to time keeps cropping up on list. My personal

Hi,
SuperDooper will backup everything, excluding certain system files.
My assumption is that SuperDooper will backup your BootCamp because it's part
of your HD.
I'll do some research to double-check this though.

Hi. I also prefer Carbon Copy Cloner. There was one time however where CCC

to clone the disks that came with my Mac to an SD card. CCC couldn't manage
this for some reason.
But that's the only time CCC didn't meet

personal preference. For the purposes of making a bootable clone of your hard

I currently don't use Super-Duper, so I don't know about them.
CCC was updated a few days ago. Also, I read somewhere that the developer of

Both programs have this feature, but you need to purchase super duper to get

is worth it, it's a great program. I use carbon copy cloner myself, but super
duper is a great program as well.
