You’re absolutely right, I became aware of this discrepancy years ago when
first working with Cell phones and accessibility. I think what happens is we
get very connected to our own challenges and issues and design to meet these.
We don’t necessarily ignore or neglect the deaf blind for exampl
David, I absolutely learn something new every time I read one of your messages.
The statistics you offer up are always enlightening.

Hi Mark,
I love the idea,
I'd love to be involved,
Shame that here in nz it's a bloody difficult job just to get a button on a

Let me add some flour and yeast to the mix also.
Ours is not a very cohesive society. Its extremely fragmented on
many levels. I won't go into the politics of it, just that its

Hi all,
Michelle here,
What about the Deafblind community who gets very easily over looked during
these conversations.
Also there is a huge difference between a person who is vision impaired and
person like myself who is totally blind and profoundly deaf with only light
perception.

I agree.
We raise a blind child who also has the gifts of a talented musician.
Unfortunately, the cause of her blindness has also caused other problems e.g.
gait, use of only 5 fingers etc. We encourage her to make use of her talents.

is 20/200, 6/60, or worse in the better eye after correction. Low vision, is

I have to disagree with this. You’d be absolutely right if we were a huge
subsection of the population, but we’re not. We’re to small of a group for the
general population to gain any nuance about our existence. Most people go
through life with out ever encountering a blind person, to add all

Speaking only for myself I feel one reason why it can be challenging to
