Hi,
It will automatically come with one from Apple. The only time you won't have
one is if you're installing a brand new drive yourself. In these cases, you'll
need to install the MacOS first so that the Recovery Partition is present.

Hi
How do I create a recovery partition just in case my girlfriend's new mac won't
have one? I never knew you had to create one in the first instance, since mine
came with one for Lion and presumably got updated as each new major OS update
was released. Correct? Anyway thanks for any responses.
Guess I did not research this enough. Its going now though and will
finish well into the night.

The fix is to either create a recovery partition or install a clean copy of the
OS first which includes installing the recovery partition and then restoring.
THat’s my guess anyway I haven’t seen this one myself.

I'd use the 750 gig to restore the ssd when you put it in to the machine,
As for secure wipe yeah nothing wrong with that and I'd be more inclined to

Hi Ramy,
You will need to boot the machine up and then run the Disk utility to view the
drive,
If the ssd isn't formatted or is formatted in say ntfs etc then the mac wont
see what you want it to have.
So you will probably need to format it first and then try setting things up.

If it was installed properly, you should only see a few items in the "Select a
Disk" table. Try formatting the first item in that list. Make sure that you
format it as MacOS Extended (Journaled). If that doesn't appear to work, you
may need to use the Partition tab instead. In the Parti
