Yes, that's exactly correct, just tell Strongbox to use the Dropbox integration
to directly connect to your Dropbox account, whilst your Windows KeePass
operates on the file created in your Dropbox folder. You've got it.

Again, I’d like to thank you for such a detailed response.
I think it would be better initially to go with dropbox while I’m learning
about servers and finding out a way of running one; I guess I’d have to run it
on a NAS of some sort. This will take longer. But with Dropbox, I could set

I can’t speak to your skill level but there’s no doubt that Strongbox has many
knobs for you to twiddle with. I like options, and although it’s certainly
quite approachable (especially with the excellent documentation in hand), I

I’m currently using Apple’s included password manager with Apple Keychain. Obviously, this works well among my Apple devices, but I would consider adopting a solution that supports Linux as well, preferably self-hosted, and definitely not requiring a cloud service or payment. Keepass might be the a
Sabahattin,
Would Strongbox be too complex a solution for an ordinary, non-geek user?
Also, would it be too technical to synchronise its use with KeePass on Windows?
I use both platforms.
Many thanks for your comments - I find them interesting.

For password manager, I use Strongbox on both macOS and iOS. These use the
KeePass format (KDBX), for which there exist tools and libraries for all
platforms. I don’t know what an Android user would use, but on Windows you’d
use KeePass (the original .net app, with plug-ins as desired).

I highly recommend that you attempt to find the funds to buy a Macintosh that
does not have an Intel chip. Walmart was selling M1 MacBook Airs for under $600
a bit ago. But there is no easy way to push a 10 year old Macintosh to the
current OS.
Good luck!

Sabahattin, Which password manager do you use? Why have you abandoned
1Password? I have Windows and Android devices, hence I’ve been subscribing to
1Password reluctantly. Please share as many thoughts as you can.

I did find one passkey in Apple's Passwords. I deleted that and
other entries before importing from 1Password. It went well and I could
view all the entries I had imported just fine.

Bear in mind that 1Password (which I am also happy to report having escaped,
albeit to another password manager) will not export your passkeys. You will
have to find the passkeys you do have (not in itself impossible, but still
annoyingly tedious when I last did it), log in to each site with the

macOS Sequoia, iOS 18 and iPadOS now have native Passwords apps. I
have looked at the app on my iPhone and its quite accessible. All 3

You’d be amazed how much you can find out with a simple Google search. For
