What specifically did the Email say? The error message would probably provide
guidance as to what’s going on. Are you using two-step verification where you
have to enter both your password and a six-digit code when you sign into Gmail

I had an interesting problem when I attempted to setup my gmail account on the
MAc using outlook. I could not sign in with my password, and received an e-mail
saying that given the security level of gmail, it would not allow me to connect
