because some people aren't comfortable with it because it requires extremely
accurate instructions.

The service Nicolai was referring to, I believe, is Add to iTunes as a spoken
track. It’s easy to use and you can select the voice you want. I always advise
people to activate this service and set a short cut for it in System
Preferences.

In terminal, do a "man say" find out all about the say command. You can
just type "say bob" and it will speak "bob" with the default voice. The
man page has options to have say take input from a text file and output
to an audio file.
