Hi Folks:
Is there any way to get VO to stop saying new line new line continually while
in HTML based e-mail?
The information I gain from this list is invaluable. Thanks to everyone who
contributes.

Ok. Thanks for letting me know. I have all my emails set to view in plain
text only. It really could be that it doesn't happen to me because of this.

I have verbosity set to medium, however, I have tried low and it makes no
difference.
It seems to be only with HTML emails, some are not to bad, others are quite
annoying!
I am using Snowy 10.6.2

Ok, this is only 1 example of an HTML that says new line all the time. This is
true whether I use preview pane or open the message. It's also true regardless
of which method I use to read it.
A few people have said they can't duplicate this behavior, so, perhaps, the
HTML emails I am gettting
Dan,
Just curious. What version of os x are you running and do you have VO's
verbosity set to low? This message was typed or came to me double-spaced and
yet I didn't hear the "no line" when doing VO-A.

Hi,
I get the return notifications as well, but I've never really minded that kind
of notification. Plus, I don't see that a lot.

Hi. I get the new line and return notifications all the time in the
electronic text files from the talking newspaper association in the
UK, and it is very annoying. I used to be able to train VO to remain
silent by placing the offending characters in the pronunciation
dictionary, but have not been

I just can't reproduce this. I think I've noticed it briefly in preview, but
that's about it.

Nick, I am not using the arrow keys, I am using voA and hearing it constantly.
Some of these messages have 2 or 3 blank lines in a row.
With most windows scren readers, when your using read to end, blank lines
aren't read. unless, of course, you turn that feature on.
I completely agree with
I think it's more of an issue if you read by paragraphs, rather than
using the arrow keys to read line by line. Reading line by line, I
would definitely want the feedback, but with JFW, breaks between
paragraphs aren't usually spoken, and it isn't necessary to arrow
across them before getting to th
Hi,
I wonder that, too. I think what people want it a shorter message, but I
personally like new line.

Why though? I'm just curious, I would have thought it was quite useful. At
least it is for me. As Nic said, it's the same as JFW or WE saying blank line.

So maybe the best thing for all involved is to hope that apple puts in an

It seems to be more so with HTML, it's true whether I use preview or hit enter,

Hi Ann,
I'll bet he's using the down arrow key to read a line at a time. New Line is
verbalized when one reads a message this way.

Hi,
He's probably using the arrow keys, and I'm using the same method because I
prefer to have Alex breathe. Yes, call me fussy. Also, I don't want to hear the
extra stuff like "Inbox, Message content, scroll area."

Hello Dan,
How are you reading your messages? I'm not having this problem. I don't use the
Preview pane in Mail, and I just press Return to read a message and it reads
straight through without saying new Line.
Cheers,
Anne
