Hi Larry,
Yes, that does work for voiceover, your workaround solution that is. But for
other things, like the fire TV, which I don't have or the Roku stick, which I
do have, that is not going to work, since those things don't offer Bluetooth or
headphones output oor connection. This still makes
I have the same issue with my AV receiver. In my case, I know it’s because of
the sound “sleeping” when there’s no input. Voiceover doesn’t generate enough
sound to keep it alive. If there’s a setting to change this behavior there’s
nothing in the manual to indicate it. I doubt there’s enoug
OK, well I looked up the sound bar suspect sheet, hoping that there might be
something in there about the amplifiers and some kind of delayed switching or
somesuch thing. But there is no mention of anything like that at all.

Ok, mine is much more complicated, it has 6 different surround modes, an input
selector, arrow keys, volume and some other keys to assign. There’s also a
screen on the front, I need to get you that part number I’ll do that.
I’m not sure I had to set anything specifically in my setup, I just wir

Hi Scott,
There is no menu, and apparently no way of adjusting any sort of sleep mode, if
it exists. There is an anything except volume and some 3-D thing and a
Bluetooth pairing button, and the on off button. No way to get a menu.

Hi Scott, does that Sony sound bar you have have the sleep setting you referred
to? And did you happen to find it's model number? It looks like Best Buy
currently has four sound bars from Sony.

There is no chopping problem with the TV internal speakers on either TV. Of
course it sounds god awful, but the voiceover or Roku audio does not chop. I'm
not sure about any sort of sleep setting regarding the sound bar internal menu.
I don't even know if it has an internal menu, since if it doe
To add even more confusion to this, I’m using Samsung flat screens as well, so
we have the same brand television. Do you get a loss of audio from the flat
screens internal speakers or just to the sound bar itself? You might have some
sort of sleep setting where the sound bar goes in to a power
OK, further to my sound bar issue. I did not correctly describe how the sound
bar was connected to the TV. It is in fact connected via an optical digital
link between the television and the sound bar. I recall now that but this was
the case with my former audio video receiver and the second gene
ve a look at it again tomorrow.

We just upgraded to a Sonos system. I have not yet had any problems with VO
clipping and losing words. The Sonos PlayBar (sound bar) uses the digital
optical out from the TV. We are very happy with our Sonos system.

I’ve never had issues using the optical side. I have terminated an Apple TV

Hi Scott,
I will have to check to see if our TV has an optical out. I know when I had the
Apple TV previous generation, I had this same problem with voiceover, and I
remember trying something with the optical out to no particular avail. And that
wasn't just with this sound bar. We had a mad AV r
Mary, I’ve got the solution for you.
I use a Sony sound bar which I absolutely love. It’s the higher end Sony sound
bar that Best Buy sells, I’ll have my assistant read the model number off if
you want although I think it’s a pretty standard model. The key is, it has an

I know I have brought this topic up before. Another year has gone by, and there
are many sound bars on sale right now with substantial discount. But if I don't
work any better than what we have now, I don't want to spend another few
hundred bucks and be disappointed. The problem I have, and I kn
