I've found that quitting Skype fixes it, regardless of what other programs are
running. Interestingly, my father swears by Magic Jack and hasn't had this
problem. *shrug* Oh well; not that many people call me anyway.

I haven't experienced this with Skype, but I have a Magic Jack, and often have
the same problem. I think the interference has something to do with the
internet connecting with the land lines, cell phones, etc. I experience this
when talking to people who have cell phones more than land

from them. A few minutes into the conversation, callers report that my audio
breaks up and is shot through with a clicking type static which makes it
