There used to be a standalone property list editor app that came as part
of xcode but it seems that got merged into the main app a while ago. You
can still open a plist file within Xcode and use their hierarchical
editor, which seems to work pretty well with voiceover. Just have to

Hi Chris.
You are wright, plist has been changed to binary files.
Thank you. I will try that, but you know, I am not good at working in terminal.
If anybody should know a program, that can be used, I still would be interested.
Can we use bbedit?
Best regards Annie.

I think they started turning them into binary files around OSX 10.5 so
only the older ones will be XML. From the terminal you can use the

The PLIST files are usually XML files, so you would just need an XML editor
or word processor that can handle XML.

Hi Annie,
NOt sure if this'll give you entirely what you need, but vo+shift+M on the
.plist file, and choose open with, right arrow to expand that sub-menu. Then
choose "other…" and from the applications list, choose TextEdit. You should be
able to read the information in there.

Hi.
I need to edit a .plist file on the mac. Is there any accessible software for
that.
I have tried with textwrangler, but to me it does not look accessible.
Best regards Annie.
