Selecting text in SAfari on a Mac computer has always been a bit wearisome.
You could try using shift key and arrow keys to see whether you can select the
text. If that’s failed, I use copy last phrase to the clipboard method which
copies the last chunk of text Voiceover says by pressing

Well, for some reason this doesn't work for me. After interacting with
the text, whenever I press vo-return voice over makes that little sound
which means no performed action. I don't know why.
