I use emacs. Vi is also good. with ctags, you can brouse source code.

I would normally use Eclipse for this task, but I've had some significant
issues with Eclipse since upgrading to SnowLeopard so I'm looking for
alternatives.
Specifically I need an editor
xcode is accessible as a code editor, has good project management
also. It is not useable for gui editing though. There are several
languages supported also. Don't install the xcode that came with your
leopard though, get the latest at the apple developer web site. google
