Have you tried the vo and F to search for the start of the page such as
searching for sort. Sometimes that works. If not what about setting the rotor
for static text and using VO and U to see if it would pick it up that way. It'd
be a bit of a pain but it might work.

Hi Les,
No Omniweb isn't in the app store. I googled it and it came right up.I don't
have the link on hand but there might be someone else who does. If so hopefully
they'll chime in. As for the frames, it works pretty well. I could access all
of the discussion board including all posts. You do h
Hi Alex,
Actually, I have tried arrowing. Here's the weird thing. I can tab around to
most fields and they are read. The tab key does not respond when I go into
this particular frame. We have not looked at Blackboard preferences and we
will do that tomorrow. Thanks for all of the assistanc
Hi Harry,
Thanks. The IT folks are already involved which will be really helpful here.

I second what Alex has said here. Set tab to interact automatically, then go
arrow oven after interacting with the frame. You should then be able to read
thee text in the threads. Do, however, be sure and set the display to text
only, or however it is worded in the Blackboard preferences.

Is the only thing you have tried tabbing? I normally arrow to where I want, or
use navigation keys to get there. Once I find the frame, I interact
(vo-shift-down arrow). You may not have tab set to interact automatically,
which could be the problem.

Harry, the issue we are dealing with now is on the Discussions Board. There is
a content frame with text that must be read. I cannot tab to this frame, no
speech is given from within the Discussion Board. Text is visible on the
screen, but I cannot figure out how to access it. Do you have an
Hi Harry,
Well, on this networked system, I could not access VO Utilities with VO F8. I
wonder if their setup is the major issue here, as it's odd that I cannot
configure VO yet. I'll be over there tomorrow morning to do some more work.

Les,
I successfully use VO with Safari and Blackboard all of the time. It is a good
idea to change the settings to "Text only," or "Plain text," I'm not sure how
it words it. It will be under "Personalization" or something like that. I
just graduated this May and am starting another program
Hi Alex,
The user must log in, otherwise that would be a great idea. Thanks.

I'm not sure, in that case. I never had much luck with blackboard, but haven't
had to use it for about three years, so they may have improved things since I
was forced to endure it. I do know that they optimized it for Internet
Explorer, so maybe it is something in Safari? You said you could see
Hi Alex,
I think we tried interacting with the frame, and still could not read the text.
I should mention that when I tabbed over and highlighted the text in the
frame, VO did not inform me of any text, so this is why I'm figuring we have a
problem.

Hi Becky,
Thanks for this. I assume I would search for Omniweb, or is it in the App
Store? Also, were you able to read the framed text I mentioned?

Les,
When I used Blackboard with my Mac I used Omniweb since safari would
continuously say busy and just gave me a lot of trouble. It worked much better
in Omniweb.I would suggest you try that and see if it works better. If you are
using ML I am not sure how it'll be but with Lion it worked real
Have the student interact with the frame, and all should work as expected.
Don't forget to stop interacting when you are done reading the text, or vo will
keep navigating only what is inside the frame. You can change this in the vo
utility (vo-f8) if you want to, under the web tab of the navigat
