I could be wrong and totally making an idiot of myself, but if you get a
monitor you won't need the adapter would you? It seems as though people are
just
Agreed, and requiring one who cannot see a monitor to have one runs counter to
accessibility.

Has anyone contacted Apple about this hardware bug? It's one thing to
require a video dongle to make the machine work right without a monitor
but now Apple has even broken that option.

Really? That's annoying! I wonder what they changed. NTSC and SVideo
have no way to detect that something is or is not connected. Have you
tried setting the display resolution to something reasonable like
1024x768? Maybe that's throwing off some other internal system stuff and
ntsc defaults to

Correct. You want the whatever your computer has to
Chris, I have that one (the one I mentioned I ordered) and it doesn't work. It
may be that the older Minis worked with this method but it definitely does NOT
work with the newer Minis.

Correct. You want the whatever your computer has to video adapter.

There are different flavors depending on what the port is on the back of
your computer. The one noted above is the mini-dvi to video but some
computers might have the micro-DVI which is
Yes, and it doesn't even need to be plugged into ac power. just
connected to the mac and the mac works fine.

yes, it definitely does need a monitor, it's to bad that most of us didn't know
that when we bought them. I, fortunately, have an old old VGA monitor here,a
dn, just having it hooked up makes a big big difference.

Yup. I bought it from Apple and I bought the mini adapter made for the new mac.
The old one wouldn't have fit anyway.
The bottom line is it doesn't work.
If someone on this list has a new mac mini and has found an adapter that would
allow it to work without a monitor I'd like to hear it though be
I bought my Mac Mini in late 2007, and I ordered an adapter for it
this year and it works like a charm. Did you order it from the Apple
Store directly? That's where I got mine. Did you get the one for the
newer Mac Mini machines? They have ones that work with the newer Mac
Minis. Call
Do you have one of the newer machines made after March 2009?
I do and I bought the adapter that was recommended on this list. It didn't
work for me so if someone has found one that does work I'd love to know which
one it is.

The Mac Mini is a great machine, and with regard to a monitor, I
bought an adapter that, when connected, makes the Mac Mini think it
has a monitor interfaced to it and I can play most video content,
including DVD's and software from Apple that has video content.
