Hello
I’m afraid that there was a big change between ML and Mavericks for Calendar.
From our point of view, I don’t think it makes it any easier.
It used to be you would get a long list of attributes you could go through, but
now it seems to be quite a chore doing things like setting a repeat
Christina,
I recently bought Fine Reader Pro from the App Store and with that version
there is no need to buy any separate app to perform the scan, such as Vue Scan.
It is capable of handling multi page scans, either manually or by sheet feed

Hi Jodie
If I remember correctly, when you plug your new MBP in and switch it on for the
first time, as it boots up it will speak to you and ask you if you need help

If you tell it you do, it will next ask you
Guys
I was reading an article about how to lighten data usage on the iPhone and it
recommended a text only browser called, prosaically, Text Browser. It's free.
Anyway, you have probably all been using it for years, but it seems to be quite
VO friendly and cuts out a lot of the stuff that we do
Dear Clifton
I haven't got a clue about the Windows thing, don't use it, but sometimes VO
will go in a bit of a huff and you need to hit command F5 about 4 times to get
it to come on. Worth a try.

Hi
I once heard the dreadful clanging of what sounded like a ship's bell when I
switched on. Apparently that was a warning something bad had happened with the
hardware. Once you've heard that sound, you'll never be sorry to hear the
ordinary start up sound again:)

Hi Ray
Dunno, Nanocount is just the name of the wee app that does a basic word and
character count for Text Edit and probably other apps that don't have a word

Hello, probably a question for Anne.
Wow, after all these years of iPlayer misery. Would it seem churlish of me to
ask if there is a way of getting the BBC audio described programmes on this?
Thanks

Hi
I'm having a similar problem. It wouldn't recognise my password and when I
requested a new password, said it had sent me one, but it hadn't.
The problem is across all three devices I downloaded it onto.

Also you can do command space to bring up spotlight and type your sum in there,

Hi
If it's something where formatting doesn't matter and they just want to read
what you've written, just paste the text into the body of an email and you will
know anyone can read it.
Other advantages of this method: a lot lighter on people's data plans if they
are using a mobile device. Als
Hi
Another way of trying to find text is to do command i. I use this with a
particular software update message from a non-Apple source which pretends it
has no text in it.
It might also be that you are not in the right window, so try window chooser
menu as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I hadn't thought about Romanian. Silly me and yes,
if I could read braille, that would be the answer, but I have tried and failed

And I think it's a shame more people don't learn L
OK guys, this may seem an odd query, but I am trying to read some stuff in
Latin and I can't yet find any voice which makes it sound anything other than
gibberish. Some of you may say that's because it's written in Latin, but you
know what I mean.

Hello Anne and thanks
It seems that Readiris is currently available for 69 Euros from the developers,
while Abbyy is GBP 69.99 from the App Store. I don't know the current
conversion rate, but that's a wee bit cheaper.
I had been given the impression that people had to get Vuescan as well as

Does anyone have any experience of Readiris 14? Is it accessible with VO? I've

Isn't the real question here not about whether captcha solving services should

OK, I know a scanner is a scanner, but some of them do menus which don't talk

Another issue I have had with scanners in the past is it being difficult to

I too fear that, as many of you say, the only thing which will move Amazon is
legal action and I am also afraid that it can't just be done in one country. It
seems a shame that visually impaired people would have to resort to this in the
face of such intransigence. What difference should it make
Actually it's worse than it just won't work, Voiceover has been deliberately
disabled by order of those nice folk at Amazon. Their reason seems to be that
Voiceover is free and so sighted people might use it to get their books read
out to them. Sounds like a load of spurious drivel to me. I wish

Hi all
Kawal, if you have the iPlayer app, you wouldn't need the BBC Global app. I
don't know how you were accessing the BBC on your Mac before, I used to use
Real Player, but I don't think that works any longer.
