The command is a toggle. Doing the command should switch between plain text
format and RTF format.
When changing to plain text, you should receive a dialog box warning that
converting to plain text will remove certain text attributes. This dialog
warning does not appear when converting to RTF.
Maybe somebody will have a better idea, but the only way I can think of is to
paste the text file into an RTF file. I looked into Save As, but all that does
is allow you to choose various Text formats.

I changed the subject line because we are now talking about text edit. how do I
do a search and replace in there? I've got all these i circumflexes and i
acutes for apostrophes and quotation marks. no idea how that happened but I'm
pretty sure I can't fix it in a braille note.

when I have the plain text file open in text edit and I press command-shift-t,
vo says: "make plain text." it already is. is there a way to find rtf in there?

Not all EPUB books have that information. They can be very very plain, or very
highly stylized depending on the author. Some books have chapters and headings
and highlights and page numbers, others have some combination thereof or even
none of the above. It really does depend on the author. If y
Excellent instructions, I think I was missing the check box for manually
synching music, movies and TV shows.
Thank you.

I assume you are using MacOS Catalina. Before you start the syncing process,
put your ringtomes on your desktop. This way you have quick access to them.
Ringtones must be in the M4R format.

The fact that you indicated you didn’t have MS Word on your Mac, is another
reason I suggested that you use TextEdit.
You can convert a .txt file to MS Word format, using TextEdit as follows:
1. Use the Mac keyboard command CMD + Shift + T, to convert the file from
plain text format to RTF form
Hi list,
I'm hoping someone will be kind and give me instructions for copying ringtones
from my Mac to my iPhone.
Most things I find on Google say to drag and drop, and this usually gives me
difficulty.
I can get as far as locating the iPhone in the Finder Sidebar. I also have

you're right, Brad. I'm working on a book so I don't have to worry about
headings so for me, that's a viable solution. I don't even have ms word for

another question, how would I change a txt file into a doc file in Text edit?
thanks.

Hi Chanelle,
I am not sure about the workaround for the Heading issue in TextEdit. As you
know, TextEdit is not nearly as full featured as MS Word. I recommended
TextEdit because the original poster was attempting to edit a .doc file she had
created on a braille notetaker. I recommended Text
Hello,
I am a bit late to this conversation. My curiosity was piqued though, so I
decided to investigate. Oddly, opening a Docx file in TextEdit retained the
font type, style, and size for body text but not headings. The Docx file also
seems to strip links but retain bulleted lists, although tab
