Wow. That did it. Was set to “low” so moved it up to “medium”. Thanks

Tim,
First, I don’t connect to my Mac from another Mac or PC right now. So I lose
nothing by turning off File Sharing. I’ll do that.

Hi,
Do you connect to your Mac from another Mac or PC? If not, then you really
have no need to have File Sharing turned on. The Windows Server in Activity
Monitor is not what it sounds like. It is actually just the process handling
all the windows you open and close. That cycle of VO-m's ce
A long shot. You can export your VO settings in Voiceover Utility
from the menu bar then reset to defaults. If you still experience issues
you can easily restore those settings simply by doing a command down on
the file you exported.

Yes, I have looked there, and have even hidden some. I have my usual Mail,

Those PC volumes might be the next thing I’ll try to completely disable.

Tim,
Yes, they shouldn’t be anything that is a “stay resident” application. And the
only apps running besides Finder are Mail, Calendar, Messages, and Textedit.
I did run the Activity Monitor to see what active processes were running. Most
seemed to be kernel items but one I was not sure about: W
Another place to look might be the Login Items tab in the user

Hi,
It sounds like most of these are just apps you use, not necessarily that they
are actually active. Maybe take a look in Activity Monitor to see if any of
those happen to be active. Activity Monitor is in your Utilities folder.

Hi,
Overlay wouldn't be an issue. The windows from the various apps are
independent of the menus. If there's an app, or agent, running in the
background that keeps taking focus, that may cause the issue. These would be

Hi,
Depends on the kind of restore that you do. A Clean Install would restore back
to a brand new clean Mac, and you would need to re-add everything manually. A
simple re-install of Mojave would retain all settings and data, but really
wouldn't accomplish anything. I'd stay with my original
