I like the app Due for all manner of reminders. The native Reminders app often doesn’t trigger on the Watch for me. If you use Tiles, the Tile app is awesome on the Watch. I also have the Red Cross emergency app which can be set up to give you alerts for weather and other types of emergencies

But you don’t need your Apple ID to reach the stores on your watch. You want the iCloud ID, because that’s the one that handles Handoff and whatnot. It would work (less well, but it would work) without the Apple ID, if you didn’t need any Apple ID exclusives such as Apple Pay. IIRC, anyway.
