I like the app Due for all manner of reminders. The native Reminders app often doesn’t trigger on the Watch for me.
If you use Tiles, the Tile app is awesome on the Watch. I also have the Red Cross emergency app which can be set up to give you alerts for weather and other types of emergencies for you and people in other places. I have them set for my family’s various locations and my workplace, all of which are in different states or part of the state.
