I use a Python library called Skype4Py that appears to work only
in 32-bit environments, probably because Skype for Mac is a 32-bit
application. This worked fine on Leopard, but when I upgraded to
Snow Leopard, the stock Python installation became a 64-bit one
apparently. I could still run my uti

Thanks, Esther, for your response to my .sit file extension query. The program
is a simple maintenance utility called macjanitor that is suppose to enable you
to run the scheduled maintenance task for the unix that that is the guts of
os10 as I understand it. If you leave your Mac off at night,
Sorry about that, been thinking about 10.6.3 but, it isn't available yet. So,
yes, I meant to say 10.6.2.

I experienced the same symptoms with my Mini last week. I took it to the Apple
Store and they determined the optical drive was bad and replaced it.

HI:
I've got a Mini that has a problem with some CD.'s too, particularly ones that
have been burned without using ITunes. I don't know if they are in a strange
format or what. My drive makes a horrible noise and then the action you
describe. It's hard to get the disk out. It might spit it o
Hi Mary,
The .sit files are an old Mac format called Stuffit files. I'm a bit
puzzled as to why the disk image file comes with this extension, but
you can open these files with "The Unarchiver":

This will handle nearly all the file extension type
Hi:
I hope this isn't too off topic, but I wondered if anybody else is having
trouble with their IPod Touch regarding wireless? I used to be able to use my

What application do I need to get that will open a file with a .sit prefix? I
downloaded a free program called Macjanitor but it is a dmg with this added
suffix, and my Mac mini wants to open this with text edit, clearly not the
appropriate app for this task.

Hi Mike,
I think you're asking about Tweetie 2 accessibility with TextExpander,
but it's more likely that you'll find list member who are using

I really like Exchange. Looking forward to Outlook for Mac. Mac Mail's fake
Exchange support, through connecting to Exchange's Imap service, is lame.
Looking forward to really being able to do stuff like edit my mail rules and
junk mail settings.

If you really mean that the VMs run slowly, then you haven't given them enough
memory. It doesn't matter what you've heard about what is possible, XP won't
run right in a VM with less than 512MB, and it needs 1GB if you want it to run
as well as possible. For Windows 7, 1.5GB is the minimum for

My MBP was purchased in September of last year, and the update says that it
isn't for this Mac.
I have noticed some occasional glitches with the audio on my MBP, though they
aren't major. Very rarely, VoiceOver will chop off a tiny bit of the speech
when it first starts speaking. Haven't figure
Thanks, Ricardo. I'm definitely going to have to play around with this.

Hi Mike,
I'm cc'ing this to the Macvisionaries list, since your question
