would like to do this in lyx.
One thing that worries me is that the Profs who will
correct it are working in MsWord!
Is there an tested/validated way to convert lyx files
to .doc?

Everything works fine when entering the "\caption..."
at the end of a two column table. With more columns

float does not occur. At least in my hands the table
is printed over the end of the initial (table-) page
after the pdflatex run.

the MiKTeX folder
c:/program files/miktex 2.7/tex/latex/floatflt then copied some of the
documentation into /miktex 2.7/doc/latex/floatflt then ran the MiKTeX settings
program and clicked on "Refresh FNDB" and "Update Formats", then loaded LyX
and the User Guide now works.

I have managed to make it happy over xforms and libxpm, however it is still
complaining about finding forms.h - I thought this was a file within xforms?
I did try installing xforms 0.89 instead of 0.88, but that didn't seem to
help.

I have now managed to configure it properly. I think the problem was that
I had installed a minimum installation of RH 6.2 (I only have a 0.8GB HD to
use) and so I had missed some files needed. A reinstallation did the
trick.

version installed from Mandrake 8.0 RPM on my Mandrake 8 box.
