ps: for those who wonder why I still use Sule Linux 9.1 and Lyx 1.3.4: The latex
that comes with this version is much faster then the system on the Linux 9.3. My
files are usually 200-300 page and contain 100 pictures. To compile the pdf, The
9.1 system takes 8 sec. and the 9.3 system

I just downloaded the .tar.gz.
It does not appear that the sources are there to
compile using GNU compiler.I only see the Visual C
project files.
No configure, make files.
Am I missing something. Does this only compile on VC

the files when downloading 1.4
you could try putting two mini pages in that float,
then in first one put the graphic, in the other put
the equation. Insert horizontal fill in between the
two mini pages. Size the two pages at 70% and
25%, or whatever looks best.

First load pstricks pkg and experiment a little to
get used to what you can do.
In the final doc. What I do is follow these steps.
1. overlay a psgrid i.e. put an ert \psgrid somewhere
at the bottom of the page

I would like to add something that isn't obvious.
When you add this converter, it only works if the PATH
variable is updated so that the executable is
recognized from the command line.
So, if you add a converter, make sure to update your
PATH environment variable too.

It is functional now.
It does appear, however, that sometimes the
highlighter generates .tex with very long lines that
are not recognized upon inclusion in the .lyx file.
I can workaround for now.For the most part it is

I didn't realise I needed to use \input{file.tex} for

The error appears in LyX 1.5.0 rc1 and rc2. I'm not inserting the image in the
caption line. Any ideas? Inserting a float algorithm works fine...
minimal example with just a floating image, causing the error message.

using the embedded math formule in LyX with koma-report class does not work
for me. in the editor it looks fine, but in the pdf output it leads to wrong
expressions. is it a question of the font (lmodern) or where could the error
be?

You are right. With another font the expression it looks fine. But why? I
installed LyX 1.5.1 and MikTex with the Win-Installer, and besides that all
works fine. I would like to continue using the lmodern font...

I used to try going into the file with the text editor
and changing the lyxformat tag so that the file
matched what version of LyX I was using.That
sometimes solved the program.

I did something similar. I used a 1x2 table at each
step and in the table I put the graphic in one column,
the text in the other.
Perhaps that is workable for you too.

Then I installed gucharmap but there is no way to get the symbol from
ucharmap to lyx, copy and paste doesn't work (it didn't work with the l
inux-console, either.

I took your example and commented out the
%\usepackage{pst-pdf} from the preamble. Then I used
ps2pdf from the view menu.It displayed properly.

tried to use an ERT with \setlength{\itemsep}{0ex plus0.2ex} but somehow it
does not work. I would like to change the topsep (distance to the preceeding

It doesn't seem to work for me. But "pdfpages" does
so maybe it is a typo?

I use the package fancyhdr, then I put in the header:

\put(-32,-4){\includegraphics[scale=1]{example.eps}}

With the put command you can change the position of the image, with the scale
you can change the size.
You have to put a \usepackage
pen up a new thread with "problems with mathptmx
and times" maybe somebody has encountered a similar problem...
