The problem is that MikTex won't automatically install with the Lyx
installer, because of a 404 error.
I then downloaded and installed MikTex manually, but I do not know how to
tell Lyx how to use it.
Any suggestions on the m

How can I generate a log-file?

Could somebody who uses Debian squeeze and texlive2011 share his
experience installing it with me (and others)?. Where is texlive
installed and how do I make sure that lyx is using it (and also other
programs which use tex/latex such as xfig etc), i.e. the Path setting?

The guys on this list would usually prefer the *.lyx file. To access
the log, try to compile the document then go to teh menu item Document

Have you tried first to compile the document? Alternatively check View

I am working on some files involving split views etc. which I need to
set up every time I start up Lyx (including after a reconfigure).
Is it possible to have the layout saved so that I do not need to do

Is there any workaround for using octave/maxima etc. in LyX 2.0 on windows?
I read somewhere on the mail-list, that this release is not able to execute

Any word on when the Windows binaries might be available for 2.0.1? I've
