I am surprised that Lyx can generate invalid latex output. I would have
thought that it could make sure the user did not create invalid
documents. For example, if I am in a section header and I insert a table
then this makes no sense so why isn't the insert table menu item greyed out?

I did try this as well but got the same problem.
I just upgraded to 1.4 and the copy/paste seems to work better (the
quotes come in as "\u2013") but the accented characters are now imported ok.

Hi,
Has anyone else noticed that text selection is really slow in the gtk
version 1.4? I tried the qt version and it doesn't have this problem.
I'm not sure if this list is the right place to report bugs but I
couldn't find a bug/feature request link on the web page.

I'm on Mac (PowerBook G4 1.5Ghz, 512 MB), so I don't really know what
version I'm using. But I have to say selection is really slow, specially if
I double click a word.

You're right. LyX crashed all the time. I reinstalled LyX 1.3 and
reinstalled LyX 1.4 and now LyX is installed correctly (no files in ~/
Library/Applications Support/LyX-1.4/bind,...). But LyX is still to

Hello. It will be very nice that lyx could present the documents (I'm
talking about the lyx presentation not about the product document) in
two columns (or more) so that we can use all the space that new
high-resolution displays bring to us in a very nice and powerful way.

Hello Stacia. I think that it's better not to relate this feature to the
multicol package. The purpose is to make use of the big screen area to
see more of the LyX-document in a confortable way without tying this
feature to the "printed" document space.

Haven't used ghostcript from within LyX, so this might be another thing

Ya, I had the missing layout problem also. Was able to fix that, I think
that updating the path environment variable and rerunning ./configure was
