When I do ./configure it fails to find libforms of xforms.
I have tried the xforms rpms from the contrib section of the ftp site versions
0.88 and 0.89 and libforms version 1RC5 all
I have just uploaded the tarball and the rpms to ftp.devel.lyx.org.
A lot of small fixes has been applied since (the unannounced) first
prerelease.
Even if I am not aware of any serious problems with pre2, you should
be careful to backup your documents before trying this one out.

The solution I have is a new external_template file that
makes a new kind of external inset available - xfigpdf
There's also a script that make this new inset work. You
don't need compiling or any root privileges to use it.

not have aspell here (and do not want to have; support for Czech

I have successfully build 1.3pre2 withe folling configure options:
--prefix=/usr/local/lyx-qt --with-frontend=qt
However, when I run /usr/local/lyx-qt/bin/lyx I get a version of LyX
that has no visible text in the menubar, the menus themselves and the
dialogs. See the attached screenshot.

My daughter is using Lyx to write a report, and the teacher has a specific
bibliographic format in mind. Jackie and I have learned on the fly how to
use the simple system built into Lyx, but it doesn't fit the format.
