the first item gets a bullet. The Item_Environment keyword makes LyX insert
an \item in each paragraph. Too cool! Developers, thanks for that
convenience -- otherwise I'd need to use an item environment nested inside a
list environment, and nobody wants that.

correctly you have to set Label with in Layout->Paragraph.
Why do we need this list environment after all?

I have installed lyx 1.1.5pre1 on RedHat 6.2 and
have got problems with the list environment which I didn't have before (lyx
1.1.4fix1 on Caldera 2.3). If the actual width of the label is longer than the
default width, the label should extend into the first line (user guide). B

if I put a footnote within a list that extends to more than one page,
LyX (ore rather LaTeX?!) always puts the footnote on the bottom of the
page where the list ends. That leads to footnotetext appearing on
different pages than the footnotemark. Is there any way to avoid this
behavior?
