I would like to come back to an earlier mail.
I traced the error I got back to Setting > Fonts: use non-tex fonts. The
output does not show the figure. It does, if I cancel it, the figure is
shown.
I used 'use non-tex fonts' in order to get the Umlaute right, as shown
also in my attachement

The short answer: you can't. Either you download a qt5-lyx-version or build
own from source. Switching between qt4 and qt5 is not possible.
