LyX doesn't know anything about LaTeX .cls files. You need to write an
IEEEconf.layout file for LyX.

Hi, Following instructions in Customize I've been able to successfully add
a couple of classes that were missing such as 'aa' and 'paper.'
But then I tried to add a couple of classes that aren't in Lyx' list of
classes for which it check, and it failed. I can't find where/how to add
