adding classes

hi
This ought to be a simple question.

I want to add a new class (prosper) to make slides. I copy the files to
/usr/shar/texmf/tex/latex/prosper and run mktexlsr
and then i "reconfigure" lyx.

but it doesn't find the new class.
Any ideas
