I am indeed impressed with what LyX can do, which is why I believe it can be
even better. I would love to contribute -- I actually had started planning out
something very similar to LyX about a decade ago -- but unfortunately I don't
have much spare time now. Maybe someday!

I am fairly new to LyX. I have been disappointed to find that simple commands
defined via \newcommand and \DeclareMathOperator in the preamble (for example,
\newcommand{\sinc}{sinc}) appear as "evil red text" onscreen. In fact, they
look exactly the same as undefined (illegal!) commands. I go
I can't seem to resolve this by changing the SecNumDepth in the layout
file, but by changing the \secnumdepth setting in the .lyx file that
fixed it.

I will have to confirm whether things work differently/better on 1.6 soon.

I'm having a weird problem with Algorithm Floats. I am using a master

Hey Jose,
Are you feeling any better from your surgery? Hope your holidays went well

I'm also curious - i have also heard that there is going to be a new file

have ramifications for lyx being for other purposes besides just LaTeX? for

so, i wouldn't be surprised if differences between i-Installer
versions is the reason you're having issues. you might need to also use an
older version of Latex and related binaries.

you'll end up with a fully working lyx document - plus its something you can

When using the precompiled version of LyX 1.5.1 that is available in the
repositories for Ubuntu 7.10 I am suddenly not able to specify
multicolumns in tables using the gui like I used to be able to do in LyX
1.4.x. What happens is that when I try select the columns to mark as

You can also use the lyx binary without it being installed - you just won't
be able have preview of equations and such. Look up some of the details of
using "portable" lyx.

Hi,
I have seen some pointers to using Lyx for creating/editing DocBook
documents. However, the wiki suggests this isn't supported any more. Does
anyone know how to do this? I'd like to use it with the current version.

Dear All,
Trying to tie up the last couple of things towards my thesis and have
run into a few road blocks. My question is how to include the front
matter into the TOC. I currently have an un-numbered title page and

the TOC.
Sorry had the wrong subject line.

You might want to check out sql-ledger (http://www.sql-ledger.org). It
has all this built in, including L
