A similar thing happened to me some time ago and it turned out that I
was ammending not the bibtex file that LyX was using, but a backup.
I know I'm sillier than many, but, just in case, make sure you are
ammending the bibtex file LyX is using :)

That's not the problem, apparently. I have moved everything to the
master document's preamble and the strange behaviour recurs. Chapter 5
compiles. Master document w/o Ch. 5 compiles, but Master document with
Ch. 5 does not.

Do you guys have opinions regarding which is the best place to add
explanations to a figure? A longish list of things such as "the pointed
line means blah, and the blue square stands for blah"...
The "figure" box in the float is too small for that -and everything you
put in there appears
