I'm working with a long document in multiple files, and I can tell you that most things do work very well:

* Labels from any file may be used everywhere
* You only need to include the bibliography once, etc.

About ortography, I guess one of the points of having multiple files is being able to do this kind of comprobations part by part; I agree with you that word count is a problem, though.

Hello,
I have a 350000 words book and I want to know what I win and that I lose if I
change one file to multiple files?
I am thinking to make the change due to the delays in writing the file.
I can see that count words (tool) with multiple files not offer the total sum
of the book.
And that the orthographic correction does not continue throughout all the book.
What other things I will find?
