open the RTF in OpenOffice (or NeoOffice on the Mac :-)-O) into
which you have installed the Writer2LateX extension. Then you
export it to Latex, paying attention to the screen that comes up
by way of using the Ultra-Clean export.
Then you run tex2lyx and have a look for evil red text,
One can find several exampels on howto make boxes with coulor and frames
etc using ert or latex code within a style/layout file. But how do one
put the color in the box on screen?
Bg color seems to work only for insets. One way to deal with would
possible be to make several instanses of shaded box

When I try import any rtf files I get an error message that says

I started using side notes, fantastic feature. While they look good on the
screen, the get cut because most printers cannot print when getting close to
the borders of the paper.
Is there a way of setting the width of side notes?
