Thanks Paul.
I don't know what happened with this installation and why the other computer
survived for this upgrade (because it has no customized UI file also), but
it works like a charm now. :-)

Dear LyX-users,
With the help of my last talks here and elsewhere I have my LyX and LaTeX

Mac. I breathe a sigh of relief… just before the highdays of the turn of
sun and year! Thanks to Uwe Stöhr and all contributers!

Dear Sir/Madam:
Since our operating system changed to Windows (Vista), I am having a
problem with importing a LyX file (*.lyx) created in an older version of
LyX into the current version of LyX (Version 1.6.5). Our in-house guru
advises me that this may have to do with the 32-bit vs. 64-bit
I think u should add this line in the preamble:
\let...@plain\ps@empty
The preamble can be found from document --> settings. Sorrry if the path
from menu doesn't have the exact same name but my Lyx is in Italian, so...
well, the preamble's easy to find anyway :)

Hello.
I am using Lyx 1.6.5 (the actual last version) on Windows XP SP3.
The problem is that the Math Toolbar and Math Panels Toolbar doesn't auto
unhide when I am editing a formula.
The same is happening when I am editing tables: the Table Toolbar does not
auto unhide.

Dear Dominik, dear list,
I´ve got a little bit further, because I understood, that I just can´t
see the files/directorys in the console, but I have to look in the
appropriate folder and find the path-names I find there. I also found
the subdirectory, which in my case here is
lyx_tmpbuf0
Of course. Put this code in your preamble:
\usepackage[symbol]{footmisc}
\DefineFNsymbols{mystyle}{\dagger}
\setfnsymbol{mystyle}
and see the footmisc package documentation.

Dear Dominik, dear list,
thanks again, this is ***anschaulich.
Everything here worked fine, until I tried to look up the temporary
directory. I think, that I have found the correct path at leat, which
is the desktop. The command-line of Terminal (console in OSX) changed
to:

Sure, see sec. 4.2.1 "Footnote Numbering" of the EmbeddedObjects manual.

\usepackage[compact]{titlesec} does exactly what I want, so
that was easy.

Thank you, Rob & Uwe, for your hints!
In fact I had a very confusing situation, yesterday: first the problem
described, then, after trying to heal it, none of the existing files of
that doc class could be run properly.
I'm not able to describe exactly all what I tried and have done. Now, w
