put the biblatex.module-file directly into the …/library/Lyx-1.6-
Folder. Maybe this is the problem, but I think this is what the wiki
prompts me to do. I reconfigured Lyx various times without succes – it
does not

Yes, open a letter template via the File->New from Template menu.
Personally, I use g-brief2 for German letters and letter(Koma-
script) for English letters.
