No, I had no LyX-1.4 installation previously. But yes, I did run the
installation script twice.
In the meantime I purged my old (1.3.5) LyX version (incl. files in /
library/ApplicationSupport) and started from scratch, installing

I'm using figures as float objects and footnotes.
Generating a dvi od pdf (ps2pdf) File it happens, that some figures are placed
under the footnote (which is than placed at the end of the ordinary text
