I have been struggling for a long time with Babel (which I talked
about in some previous posts) and now I have found a workaround that
includes manually editing the LaTex file exported by LiX. I wonder if
any LyX/LaTeX expert on the list can help me out getting to the root of
the problem.

Yes, the second one (after.pdf) is what I want, inside a document with
global orientation set to "portrait".
I am very surprised that there is no package in LaTeX for doing this simply
...
