extra line after a figure float

Hi.. I'm having trouble with the figure float and vertical spacing of paragraphs. The paragraph that comes after a figure float has an extra line before it, i.e. some additional vertical spacing. And this spacing is a problem if the figure float in the final output isn't placed exactly at the point
