Check for the file texmf.cnf (in debian with tetex it is on /etc/texmf) in
your system. Mine has a line
HOMETEXMF = $HOME/texmf
that tells that each user can place his classes under this directory in
his home directory.

I have been successfully using the perl modules:
LyX::Client.pn and LyX::Polite.pm for about 2
years with versions 1.1.5 and 1.1.6.
I cannot make them work with v 1.2.1
Any suggestions?
