I just installed Lyx and when I try to use the File>Open menu I get an Alert
message that says:
LyX Internal Error
Could not test if directory is writeable. No such file or directory.
What directory is it to which this alert refers? I have checked the
permissions on all of the .lyx directori

X-win32 5.2. Everything works well except for the lyx menus. The
main window shows up the names of each menu but when you open any, you get a
blank box.
I tried everything within lyxrc but I can't get
those menus back.
